Reinventing the classic mountain chalet design with modernity energy-efficiency and the unique charm of Lake Tahoe are for those who love comfort fun-filled ski slopes and amazing views rolled into one. This is essentially a flawless marriage of two contrasting worlds –
Nestled in Radisson Heights – Albert Park was designed by Studio North to showcase how an old residence can easily accommodate three compact homes even while holding a relaxing and practical greenhouse!
It is the folded plane of the house that give sit a unique look and also creates a ‘breathing space’ of sorts for the home to cool down on the really hot days. Connected with the main deck outside the eave below avoids overexposure to sunlight even as gentle breeze flows through unabated.
It is the living room where this fusion starts as a marble fireplace wall sits snugly next to the accent wooden wall that holds the entertainment center. Despite white and shades of gray being dominant throughout the house the interior feels anything but monotonous.
Elegant little additions like the sliding barn door at the entrance and the bespoke illuminated wooden stairway give you an early indication of what to expect inside. The living area acquires more flexibility thanks to the use of glass walls with a dark frame which can easily delineate spaces when needed. Different shades of gray lend a sense of sophistication to the open living space even as the new kitchen and dining zone in white effortlessly flows into the lush green courtyard outside.
